Appliance delivery in New Zealand

Appliance delivery — New Zealand

Delivering a large appliance means measuring first: door widths, staircase turns, lift ceiling height. It is that survey, more than strength, that decides whether the appliance goes in or goes back. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in New Zealand are notified of your request.

What the service covers

fridge, freezer and washing machine;
upright transport and careful wedging;
carrying upstairs with or without a lift;
placing it where planned;
unpacking and removing the packaging.

Depending on the agreement, the delivery can include loading, upright transport, carrying, placing the appliance, unpacking, removing the packaging and instructions before plugging in.

Key points

Cold appliance: transport and restart

A fridge or freezer is transported upright as far as possible; if it has been laid down or strongly tilted, it is only plugged in again after several hours standing still, so the compressor oil can settle back. Plugging it in straight after transport on its side can destroy the compressor. The appliance is carried by two people, doors kept closed, and wedged so it cannot tip during the journey.

Pallets, equipment and securing

A pallet is only handled with the right equipment — pallet truck, tail lift, sack truck — on flat, clear ground, never by hand. The load is wrapped or strapped, the weight kept low and centred, and nobody stands under a raised load. Give the real weight, the dimensions, the height under any archway and whether a lorry can get access.

What affects the price

distance;
weight and volume;
requested deadline;
handling equipment needed;
timing: day, night, weekend.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
