Repainting a room, apartment or house transforms the interior. Durable paintwork relies on good preparation: protection, filling holes and cracks, sanding, primer, then finish coats. Depending on what you agree with the worker, the job can include moving and covering furniture, masking, filling, sanding, primer, finish coats and site cleaning.

Key points

Preparation

Cracked, flaking or stained walls must be treated before painting; in damp rooms, suitable paint limits mould.

Ventilation and health

Ventilate the room during and after work; keep children and pets away. In older homes, sanding damaged old paint requires dust precautions.

What affects the price

• wall and ceiling area;
• surface condition;
• number of coats;
• ceiling height;
• supply of paint.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
