Iron gate

Iron gate — Aland Islands

An iron gate closes access to the property and sets the tone of the frontage. Made to measure, it can be solid for privacy, open for visibility or decorated with wrought iron motifs. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in Aland Islands are notified of your request.

What the service covers

• single or double swing gates;
• sliding gates on a track or cantilevered;
• matching pedestrian gates;
• solid, open or decorative gates;
• preparation for an automatic opener.

Depending on what you agree with the worker, the job can include measuring, workshop manufacture, anti-rust treatment and painting, fixing hinges or track, installation and adjustment.

Key points

The pillars

An iron gate is heavy: pillars or posts must be solid and plumb. Mention their condition or whether they need building.

Rust protection

Lifespan depends on metal preparation and painting; periodic maintenance is needed, especially in humid or coastal areas.

What affects the price

• width and height;
• swing or sliding;
• infill (solid, bars, motifs);
• profile thickness;
• treatment and painting;
• installation and pillar condition.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.

Frequently asked questions

Can the gate be automated?

Yes, plan it during manufacture; the electrical connection is for an electrician.

Swing or sliding?

Sliding avoids the swing area; a swing gate needs clear space in front or behind.

Are pillars included?

No, unless agreed; a boundary wall construction service exists.

What information should I give?

Opening width, height, opening type, style, pillar condition and any driveway slope.
