A bare brick or block wall needs rendering to be protected, trued up and ready for a finish. Cracked or loose render should be redone before moisture sets in. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in United States are notified of your request.
Depending on what you agree with the worker, the job can include preparing the surface, a bonding scratch coat, the main coat trued with a straightedge, the finish and protecting surrounding areas. Any scaffolding should be specified.
A dusty, crumbly or overly smooth surface compromises adhesion. Old render that sounds hollow must be removed before repair.
Render is not applied in full sun or rain, and each coat needs drying time. On a façade, the season matters.
The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
Usually three stages: bonding coat, main coat and finish. Some ready-mixed renders need fewer.
