PC repair at home in South Africa

PC repair at home — South Africa

A computer that will not start or shows an incomprehensible error blocks everything else. An on-site diagnosis separates what can be repaired, what needs replacing and what is no longer worth the money. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in South Africa are notified of your request.

What the service covers

slow or crashing computer;
boot failure and blue screen;
removing viruses and unwanted software;
connection or peripheral problems;
parts replacement and reinstallation.

Depending on the agreement, the job can include the diagnosis, an estimate before work, a backup if agreed, the repair or reinstallation, tests and an explanation of what was done.

Key points

Data and passwords

Back up your important files before any work: a repair may require a reinstallation. Do not share your passwords: open the sessions needed yourself and change them afterwards if you typed them in front of someone. Your personal files stay confidential, are neither copied nor kept, and no unlicensed software is installed on your equipment.

Equipment and electricity

The device is unplugged before opening it, and a lithium battery that is swollen, punctured or getting hot is not handled: it is kept away from anything flammable and taken to a collection point. Components are handled on a clean surface with no liquid nearby, and screws and ribbon cables go back in order. A device still under warranty is not opened without checking what that implies.

What affects the price

nature of the problem;
equipment involved;
length of the job;
parts or licences needed;
travel or remote support.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
