Sorting and decluttering

Sorting and clearance — Aland Islands

A clearance is decided at the sorting stage: what is sorted becomes a donation, a resale or recycling; what is not ends up as waste. Taking the time to separate changes the outcome and often the cost. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in Aland Islands are notified of your request.

What the service covers

• emptying a room or a home;
• separating keep, give, sell, throw;
• disposal through the right channels;
• cleaning after the clearance;
• support during an inheritance or a move.

Depending on the agreement, the service can include sorting with you, boxing up, carrying, disposal through the right channels, the final clean and handing over disposal receipts if provided.

Key points

Dust, loads and risky items

A cellar or loft closed for years holds dust, mould and sometimes pest nests: mask, gloves, closed shoes and airing before starting. Heavy loads are carried by two people, with a clear route and enough light. Unknown chemicals, gas cylinders, swollen batteries, materials suspected of containing asbestos or dangerous objects are not handled: they are flagged and passed to an authorised channel.

Nothing leaves without your agreement

Sorting belongs to the client: nothing is thrown away, given away or sold without approval, and sensitive items — papers, photos, jewellery, post, keepsakes — are set aside for you to decide yourself. What the worker sees among your belongings stays confidential. What is disposed of goes to the right channel: donation, recycling or a waste centre, never fly-tipping.

What affects the price

• volume involved;
• the starting state of the space;
• sorting and disposal;
• storage supplies;
• length of the job.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
