Extractor fan and ventilation cleaning in New Zealand

Extractor fan and ventilation cleaning — New Zealand

A clogged ventilation system stops extracting anything: damp settles in, smells linger and mould appears in the corners. Cleaning the vents and filters restores the airflow and shows within days. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in New Zealand are notified of your request.

What the service covers

cleaning the extraction vents;
replacing or washing the filters;
dusting the housing and the motor;
checking airflow and operation;
advice against damp and condensation.

Depending on the agreement, the job can include removing the vents, cleaning, replacing the filters, dusting the accessible housing, checking the airflow and a function test.

Key points

Ventilation: never block it

Air vents and grilles are never blocked, not even in winter: they remove moisture and combustion gases, and blocking them is one of the most common causes of domestic accidents. Cleaning is done with the unit off and the power cut, wearing a mask, because ducts collect dust and mould. Filters are replaced as the manual says, not when you happen to think of it.

Electricity: regulated work

Any work on the circuit is done with the power off at the breaker, and connecting a device to the consumer unit is for a qualified professional. A protective device is never replaced with a higher-rated one to stop it tripping: that tripping protects the installation. After reassembly, a function test is carried out before closing up and switching back on.
