A clogged ventilation system stops extracting anything: damp settles in, smells linger and mould appears in the corners. Cleaning the vents and filters restores the airflow and shows within days. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in Saint Lucia are notified of your request.
Depending on the agreement, the job can include removing the vents, cleaning, replacing the filters, dusting the accessible housing, checking the airflow and a function test.
Air vents and grilles are never blocked, not even in winter: they remove moisture and combustion gases, and blocking them is one of the most common causes of domestic accidents. Cleaning is done with the unit off and the power cut, wearing a mask, because ducts collect dust and mould. Filters are replaced as the manual says, not when you happen to think of it.
Any work on the circuit is done with the power off at the breaker, and connecting a device to the consumer unit is for a qualified professional. A protective device is never replaced with a higher-rated one to stop it tripping: that tripping protects the installation. After reassembly, a function test is carried out before closing up and switching back on.
The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
