Window Repair in Saint Lucia

Window repair — Saint Lucia

A window that does not close properly, lets in draughts or gets stuck quickly becomes a nuisance: noise, cold air, dust, rainwater or home security. In many cases an adjustment or a replacement part is enough, without changing the whole window. On Helplease, you describe the problem and the type of window, and the workers offering this service in Saint Lucia are notified of your request.

The most common problems

Sash that rubs or is hard to close: a dropped sash or misaligned hinges.
Broken or stuck handle: a handle to replace, or a seized espagnolette or locking mechanism.
Sliding window that catches: worn rollers, a dirty or bent track.
Air or water getting in: worn weather seals, putty or silicone to redo.
Damaged wood: deteriorated or swollen parts on a timber window.

What the job can include

Depending on the diagnosis and what you agree with the worker: adjusting the sashes, cleaning and lubricating mechanisms, replacing the handle, espagnolette, hinges or rollers, replacing seals, resealing around the frame, and small repairs on timber. The parts needed depend on the brand and model; who supplies them is agreed with the worker.

Key points depending on the window

Timber, aluminium or PVC

Each material has its own hardware and adjustments. A swollen timber window may need light planing or sanding; an aluminium or PVC window is mostly adjusted at the hinges and keeps.

Repair or replace?

When the frame is badly warped, rotten or cracked, repair may no longer make sense. The worker can tell you whether replacement is more reasonable; making a new window falls under other services in the catalogue.

The glazing

If the glass itself is cracked or broken, replacing it falls under the dedicated glass replacement service.

Hard-to-reach windows

State the floor and the access, especially if the window can only be worked on from outside.

What affects the price

the nature of the fault and the time needed to diagnose it;
the material and opening type (casement, tilt-and-turn, sliding);
the number of windows involved;
the parts to replace and their availability;
access and floor level.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.

Frequently asked questions

My window no longer closes: does it need replacing?

Not necessarily. A sash that rubs or no longer closes is often fixed by adjusting the hinges or replacing a part of the mechanism.

Does the worker supply the parts?

That is to be agreed. Some parts are standard, others depend on the model. Giving the brand or describing the hardware helps prepare the job.

Can a sliding window that comes off its track be repaired?

Generally yes: cleaning the track, replacing the rollers or adjusting the sash height, depending on the cause.

Air comes in around my window: can that be repaired?

Yes. Replacing seals and redoing the silicone are among the most common window repairs.

What information should I give in my request?

The material, the opening type, the number of windows, a precise description of the fault, the brand if you know it, and the floor and access.
