A window that does not close properly, lets in draughts or gets stuck quickly becomes a nuisance: noise, cold air, dust, rainwater or home security. In many cases an adjustment or a replacement part is enough, without changing the whole window. On Helplease, you describe the problem and the type of window, and the workers offering this service in Canada are notified of your request.
Depending on the diagnosis and what you agree with the worker: adjusting the sashes, cleaning and lubricating mechanisms, replacing the handle, espagnolette, hinges or rollers, replacing seals, resealing around the frame, and small repairs on timber. The parts needed depend on the brand and model; who supplies them is agreed with the worker.
Each material has its own hardware and adjustments. A swollen timber window may need light planing or sanding; an aluminium or PVC window is mostly adjusted at the hinges and keeps.
When the frame is badly warped, rotten or cracked, repair may no longer make sense. The worker can tell you whether replacement is more reasonable; making a new window falls under other services in the catalogue.
If the glass itself is cracked or broken, replacing it falls under the dedicated glass replacement service.
State the floor and the access, especially if the window can only be worked on from outside.
The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
Not necessarily. A sash that rubs or no longer closes is often fixed by adjusting the hinges or replacing a part of the mechanism.
That is to be agreed. Some parts are standard, others depend on the model. Giving the brand or describing the hardware helps prepare the job.
Generally yes: cleaning the track, replacing the rollers or adjusting the sash height, depending on the cause.
