Basic service in South Korea

Basic service — South Korea

A basic service done on time costs a fraction of an engine repair. Oil change, filters and checks on fluid levels and safety components cover most of what wears a vehicle out early. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in South Korea are notified of your request.

What the service covers

oil change and oil filter replacement;
air and cabin filters;
checking levels and any leaks;
checking brakes and tyres;
taking away used oil and filters.

Depending on the agreement, the job can include the initial check, the estimate, the oil change, filter replacement, safety checks, a short test drive and waste disposal.

Key points

Vehicle secured and engine cold

A vehicle is never worked on supported by a jack alone: handbrake on, wheels chocked, axle stands in place on flat, hard ground. Work is done with the engine off and cooled, because a hot cooling system is under pressure and scalds the moment a cap is opened. Fixings are tightened to the manufacturer's torque, and a short test drive is made before going back on the road.

Quote and vigilance in an emergency

An emergency call-out is still a service that can be discussed: ask for the estimated amount before the work starts, a detailed invoice at the end, and refuse to sign a document you have not read. Be wary of anyone piling up unjustified replacements, demanding immediate cash payment or refusing to put their estimate in writing. The worker must be qualified for the work concerned.

What affects the price

type of work;
the vehicle model;
parts and consumables;
location: home, office or car park;
length of the job.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
