Mobile mechanic

Mobile mechanic — British Indian Ocean Territory

A car that won't start, a suspicious noise, a service due: the mobile mechanic comes to you to diagnose and carry out what can be done on site, without driving to the garage. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in British Indian Ocean Territory are notified of your request.

What the service covers

• fault diagnosis;
• replacing common parts (plugs, pads, accessory belts);
• routine servicing;
• battery, starter and alternator;
• advice before buying a used car.

Depending on the diagnosis and what you agree with the worker, the job can include fault finding, supplying and fitting parts, tests and, if needed, referral to a workshop for major repairs.

Key points

What can be done on site

Many jobs are possible at home; major repairs (gearbox, engine, alignment) need a lift and a workshop.

Safety

Working under a vehicle requires safe lifting (axle stands, stable ground); work on brakes and steering must be done by a qualified mechanic.

What affects the price

• fault or service;
• make and model;
• parts needed;
• travel;
• urgency.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
