Object personalisation in South Africa

Object personalisation — South Africa

A personalised object is remembered long after the celebration. An engraved name, a hand-painted motif, a date or a discreet message turns an ordinary item into one that matters. On Helplease, you describe your needs and the workers offering this service in South Africa are notified of your request.

What the service covers

engraving on wood, glass or metal;
hand painting and motifs;
lettering, names and dates;
embroidery and textile marking;
personalised gifts and one-off pieces.

Depending on the agreement, the service can include discussing the design, a mock-up, approval, the work itself, protective finishing and delivery or handover of the item.

Key points

Rights and references

A commissioned piece does not reproduce someone else's work, a protected character or a brand logo: reproducing without permission exposes both the person ordering and the person making it. For a portrait from a photo, the agreement of the person shown and of the photographer is needed. Agree in advance what is delivered, which uses are allowed and how the author is credited.

Products, ventilation and rags

Paints, varnishes, glues and solvents are used with a window open, no flame nearby, with gloves and a mask suited to the product. Never mix two products. Rags soaked in oil or varnish can heat up and ignite on their own: dry them flat outdoors or soak them in water before throwing them away, never bundled up in a bin.

What affects the price

area or number of rooms;
complexity of the project;
materials and supplies;
time needed;
travel.

The rate is agreed with the worker based on these elements.
